This one-day professional development workshop is designed to engage educators in learning about IB Core: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Action & Service (CAS) and Extended Essay (EE). Through these workshops, educators will engage in rich learning and understanding of the IB Core. This professional strand is open to new teachers interested in understanding this strand,, librarians or experienced teachers of TOK, CAS and EE teachers to collaborate and share ideas.
Chrisann’s aim is to help create best practice programs using research and knowledge gained from psychology to develop strategies that promote student-centred, inquiry-based learning.
She is committed to expanding students’ potential through methods that foster creativity and critical thinking skills. Chrisann has extensive classroom experience of more than 14 years of teaching Psychology and TOK to IB students at the Jamnabai Narsee School, Dhirubhai Ambani School and the Bombay International School. She has been an IB examiner for the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essay and Moderator for Internal Assessments (IA) in Psychology since 2008. She currently consults with various schools across India, like the Pathways School, Heritage School and others. She has conducted sessions in Psychology and Theory of Knowledge with teachers and students in the Asia Pacific region, including Pledge Harbour Bangladesh, and Singapore International Academy Medan, to name a few.
Pallavi Mogre has been an IB Examiner for English A and TOK for the past 15 years. She is a Senior Examiner and Team Leader for TOK.
She has completed her M.A. and M.Phil. in English Literature from Mumbai University. She has worked at Jamnabai Narsee International School, Juhu in the varied capacities of their CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Coordinator (2007-2010) as well as HOD, English (2017-2018) over a span of six years. During her four year stint (2013 – 2017), she was instrumental in developing the Theory Of Knowledge (TOK) curriculum at Hill Spring International School as their TOK Coordinator. She has been an IB Examiner for both English A and TOK for the past 16 years. She is a Senior Examiner and Team Leader for TOK. Currently, she is the HOD, English, Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay Coordinator at Podar ORT International School.. She has presented research papers at national and international conferences, and her most recent paper is a critical overview of the IB’s Language Policy. Her areas of interest include Postcolonial Studies, Gender Studies, Popular Culture and Aesthetics. She is currently pursuing a PhD in English Literature.
Tom Forsgren can honestly say that it has been a joy and privilege to serve in the field of education and enjoy the creative process in the art of teaching.
I consider myself a lifelong learner interested in all aspects of humanity. His last seven years at the American School of Bombay (ASB) have provided an opportunity to work in a collaborative approach to developing a curriculum, integrate digital solutions to enhance learning in his lessons and create new instruments for formative and summative feedback. Before ASB, I taught AP Geography, AP World History, and AP European History at Central Academy in Des Moines, Iowa.
His most significant opportunities for professional growth have come about as a result of meeting people from other cultural backgrounds, professions, and places in the world. Recent training in IB workshops for IB History and Theory of Knowledge has provided a wealth of new strategies for instruction.
Just finished my first year of working and living in India, which has been amazing. Teacher of 16 years and family of 4. Professionally I have taught many different social studies classes; IB Economics, History, Business, Global Politics, and ToK. I have taught previously in Japan, Thailand, Ukraine, and Saudi Arabia. Love to eat food, travel anywhere and everywhere, and learn about the world.
Kuntal Bhandare has 20 years of experience as a librarian with five years as an EE coordinator. She is currently a secondary school librarian, EE coordinator, and Team leader at Ecole Mondiale world school Mumbai.
She is one of the founder members of Liferarian group and one of the core members of the International collaboration of Extended Essay group (ICEE). She holds a Master’s degree in Library science and is a passionate librarian working towards upskilling librarians through the Liferarian association.
For eight years, Mila Chakrabarty has worked as a Curriculum and Extended Essay Coordinator in The Cathedral and John Connon School.
She is a librarian with experience of more than 20 years in both educational and corporate fields. She has been a qualified examiner for IBO for Extended Essay in World Studies since 2018.
She is passionate about learning new tools in Educational Technology and implementing them in the dissemination of information. She is a content manager of her school’s website and social media. She has created resource websites for the school on Extended Essays, citations, databases and academic honesty. She has used innovations and technology to support the Library’s enhanced role as a hub of learning & help in the holistic development of our students.
Sejal Mody has been in the field of education for two decades. Her teaching experience includes CBSE, ISC and the International Baccalaureate curriculum. Her professional expertise includes conceptualizing, designing, and implementing a wide range of school and teacher-related projects and services.
She has conducted professional development programmes for heads and teachers across India under the Wipro Applying Thought in Schools Teacher Empowerment Project.
She is open-minded, has a positive outlook and believes in continuous learning. Currently, she is a facilitator of the diploma program and teaches the Theory of Knowledge and Global Politics. She works as an examiner for TOK and Global Politics. She has been the CAS coordinator of my school for the last seven years and has a group of 15 CAS advisors and supervisors working with me to ensure the successful implementation of the CAS program.

Seema Kamble has been working in the field of Education over the past 15 years. She currently heads Community & Social Responsibility (CSR) and CAS Program at The American School of Bombay. It is her 4th year at ASB. She completed her Teach For India fellowship in Pune in 2010-12.
Before joining American School of Bombay, she worked with The Maharashtra State Education department as a Project Consultant for Maharashtra International Education Board (MIEB) Project that aims at creating high quality Public Schools equivalent to the International education.Her work areas involved working on Co-creating the Project Plan, School Selection, Teacher training and coaching School Principals. She was also the school Leader for 3.2.1 Education Foundation’s School and Akanksha Foundations School. Her passion lies in Teacher training, Student leadership and building opportunities for students to engage in authentic service related engagements.
